Audit review
The paper derives consistent finite-difference ghost-point closures on free edges and at free–free corners for a 13-point Δ² stencil, and provides explicit corner formulas (for E, N, NE, EE, NN, …). The candidate solution reproduces the same edge closures, obtains equivalent corner formulas but chooses a different 7×7 subset to solve (eliminating NE via a compatibility and using first-row closures at adjacent non-corner edge points), and supplies expanded closed forms for the required ghosts. Apart from a likely typographical omission of scaling factors in one paper formula, both treatments agree on the substance; the model’s extra determinant claim is not supported by the paper but is not needed for correctness.

\textbf{Recommendation:} minor revisions
\textbf{Journal Tier:} specialist/solid
\textbf{Justification:}
The paper's ghost-point construction for mixed clamped/free boundaries and the explicit corner closures are correct and practically valuable. The candidate solution reorganizes the corner equations but remains equivalent in substance. Small clarifications would improve readability and reproducibility (e.g., a missing scaling factor in a displayed line and more explicit enumeration of unknowns in the corner system).
